William Wegman has been featuring his dogs in his artwork for generations-dog generations that is! It all started when Man Ray, a Weimaraner joined the family in the 1970’s. Weimaraners have been his muse ever since.
There must be close to 100 giant polaroid photographs in the exhibit. All feature at least one Weimaraner. There are different series. Close-ups highlighting the beauty of the dog, dogs on/under/in furniture, dogs and cubes and dogs wearing animal masks. Then there are the famous Weimaraners pretending to be humans.
This William Wegman exhibit is a must-see for dog lovers!
Available to see at NGV until 17th March 2019.
Entry is free- but if you are there, I recommend checking out the Escher X nendo exhibit(paid) as well.
