Every dog is beautiful, obviously we all know that. But that doesn’t stop them from being plagued by impossible beauty standards too. We’ve all see pet food adverts, there’s a lot to live up to! Long legs, wet nose, shiny coat–who can manage it? Luckily, German photographer Klaus Dyba is rejecting all that, to offer an alternative take on beauty. One that does away with (most of) the coat all together.
His photos celebrate the unique–and sometimes chilly–beauty of bald dogs. His “Bald is Beautiful” series features Chinese Crested and Mexican Hairless breeds, both who have the unfortunate honour of being regulars on “ugliest dogs” lists–a classification we personally reject.
As Dyba’s photos show, there is something uniquely striking and often quite elegant about all that skin. Who wants to look like everyone else anyway?
